Support Rangi

The future is female, and as we enter a new era of philanthropy in New Zealand women’s schools, we want Rangi to be at the forefront, leading the way.

In 1889 the Gibson sisters established Rangi Ruru with the vision to provide the very best education for girls. The School is constantly striving to build on that vision, providing scholarship opportunities, delivering personalised learning programmes and providing the quality of buildings and facilities that match and support the exceptional education the girls receive.

With the majority of the school’s tuition fees directed towards staff and operational costs Rangi Ruru relies on the support of its community to help prepare for future generations and to ensure the Gibson Sisters’ vision continues to soar.

Please give generously today.

Project Blue Sky

After the February 2011 earthquake, the Board of Governors decided not to replace buildings in an ad hoc manner, but to take the opportunity to redesign the whole school campus and to build a school designed around the needs of tomorrow’s female leaders. Project Blue Sky was born.

The decision to redesign and rebuild the school was a bold one but one that is already paying off. Our current students are reaping the benefits of an education with leading facilities. To date projects completed include the Gibson Centre, the Science Centre, Mana Wahine, the Art and Technology Building and the Performing Arts Building. A dedicated space for physical activity, sports, wellbeing and community will be the next project to be completed. It is time to continue unlocking the masterplan.

Annual Appeal

When the 2020 annual giving campaign was planned, we couldn’t have imagined the impact COVID-19 would have on our community. But COVID-19 is here, and it is affecting whanau and our girls and as such the School has made the decision to revise this year’s appeal.

Due to changes in circumstances and unforeseen fallouts from COVID-19, some families are now having to decide whether their daughter can remain enrolled at Rangi. Knowing the great start in life a Rangi education provides, it saddens us all to know some of our girls may not be able to complete their education here with us.

In addition to the fee rebate already extended to the whole school community by the Board, the school has also allocated funds towards supporting several families in the short term, but further support is now needed.

In response to this, the Rangi Ruru Covid-19 Fees Assistance Fund has been established.

This fund will allow the school to underwrite any further tuition or boarding fee assistance in the short term, needed by current families to ensure their daughter remains enrolled at Rangi.

If you are in a position to help others at this time, please click on the button to donate to the COVID-19 Fees Assistance Fund. Your contribution, big or small, will make the world of difference and will help us in trying to keep our Rangi family together.

The Rangi Ruru Foundation was established in 1995 with the aim of providing long-term financial independence for the school and supporting school projects and activities that cannot be met from school fees.

The Rangi Ruru Foundation holds a pivotal role within the school ensuring all donations to the school are diligently managed, invested, and then distributed as intended.

Our Foundation is made up of a group of outstanding individuals who have been appointed by the Board. Each Foundation trustee brings a wealth of expertise from varying sectors and professions and we are grateful for their prudent investment and management of school funds.

Leaving a Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift in your Will is a powerful and lasting way to help us provide an education that supports the academic, sports, cultural and creative endeavours of all Rangi girls. It is a way to continue to support the school after you are gone or to suport the school as you have always wanted to but have perhaps been unable to in your life time.

Rangi Ruru recognises that many people have already thought of and are intending on leaving a gift to the school. We celebrate this generosity through a special group known as the Gibson Circle. We are incredible grateful to all who recognise this and pledge their support in this manner.

Gifts in Kind, Time and Expertise

The school welcomes all gifts monetary or in kind. If you wish to gift assets, services, goods, time or expertise, then please contact our Head of Development Bridget Woodham

Rangi Ruru is a non-profit organisation. In order to offer the best education possible, the school is reliant on the support of others.

The Government is slowly reducing its funding of independent schools (down to less than 30% of what it funds students in the state sector). This means we are reliant on school fees and the generous support of our community for maintaining our position as one of the highest achieving schools in New Zealand.
