We're friendly, warm and supportive

One thing we hear over and over again is how much the girls and their parents are drawn to the close knit, family environment at Rangi Ruru. That the atmosphere is friendly, warm and supportive.

We know other schools say the same thing but this is what our parents tells us all the time. We are all about girls in the broadest sense. From what happens in the classroom to the design of our school campus; our programmes and culture are about creating an environment which supports girls’ development and learning. Our school is a place where girls fourish; a place which celebrates endeavour and success; a place where it is the norm to challenge yourself and to strive for excellence, and a place where citizenship and values matter.. So why choose Rangi Ruru for your girl?

Fantastic Communication

Communication with parents is something we are focussed on at all times. We understand that it’s essential you know what is going on with your daughter’s education. Some parents who have not experienced private schooling before have the perception that it’s not affordable. Many parents are surprised how affordable education at Rangi Ruru actually is. Budgets and finances are important to us all – talk to us, ask the questions – you too might be surprised. At Rangi Ruru, what you see is what you get – a good, honest, real education for your daughter.

Small Classes

Rangi Ruru has small class sizes with a maximum of 26 girls. Many senior classes have as few as 10 students. This structure means teachers know their students well and can tailor programmes to their needs. This includes learning support and special programmes of enrichment and extension which ensure girls are challenged and supported.

Technology

Technology is used extensively across the school, bringing the world into the classroom. Rangi Ruru is a BYOD school which means each girl is required to bring her own device with her. Through the wireless network, girls can safely access their schoolwork, learning resources, homework support, share information and interact with their teachers or fellow students from school, the boarding house or anywhere they happen to be.

Academic Achievement

Rangi Ruru is consistently in the top 3% of New Zealand schools for academic achievement. In national and international competitions and examinations, a high proportion of students feature at the top of their chosen fields of endeavour. More than 90% of Rangi girls go on to further tertiary study in New Zealand and overseas.

Learning at Rangi is personal; our small classes enable teachers to target the teaching and learning to ensure the active participation and involvement of all learners, to know their students extremely well, to monitor their progress and to provide differentiated approaches to meet learners’ needs. Opportunities exist for students to multi-level when choosing subjects.

At Rangi Ruru we promote a blended learning environment, where lessons facilitated by teachers are supported by the integration of technologies, where students are encouraged to bring and use their own devices at school. Internet-connected devices are a powerful tool. They engage learners to make connections, overcome barriers of time and distance, facilitate shared learning communities and open up new and different ways of learning. These, coupled with the school’s own technologies; provide a strong technological framework to enrich learning.

Teachers and students use a number of excellent tools to support learning. Onenote, a digital ring binder, is used extensively to promote interactive and collaborative learning and is a storehouse for a wide range of learning resources. Students can access these any time they chose and their teachers maximise Onenote to provide personalised feedback to their students.
