Life of a Boarder

The Boarding House offers support for girls to pursue their personal interests and organises many interesting activities throughout the year.

During weekends, boarders can take part in a range of activities including trips to the theatre, ski trips, games and outings or regular competitive sporting pursuits. They also have access (by arrangement) to the library, gymnasium, fitness centre, swimming pool and other school facilities after school hours.

There are a number of celebrations, themed evenings and boarding events throughout the school year which help the boarding community to get to know each other better. Parents are encouraged to join our boarding community for special events.

Health and Wellbeing

At Rangi Ruru our boarders’ emotional and physical wellbeing is always foremost in our minds

  • House Managers and Residential Assistants are available 24 hours a day. They balance the need for a caring, homely environment with the need for systems and processes required to manage a home of 120 teenage girls.
  • Girls from each year group are represented on the House Council which enables girls to have both formal input into the decision making process and to plan events and activities.
  • Our highly qualified chef and catering staff prepare balanced and interesting meals with a focus on giving girls all the energy and nutrition they require for their busy lifestyle.
  • Our girls stay in touch with family and friends through email, text, phone and skype, and many go home for the weekend. It is only for the first weekend of every term that boarders are expected to stay in the House.
