Career Counselling and Planning
It is important that students are learning to think analytically and creatively, how to go on learning and how to adapt their learning to new situations. It is no longer possible to leave school with all the skills and knowledge needed to get you through the next 40 years of working life. So starting with a good base is important.
Subject selection centres on acquisition of English and Mathematical skills, then areas of interest and enjoyment where students gain satisfaction in achieving because they like what they are doing.
At Rangi Ruru, all students participate in a Careers Education programme at Years 10, 11, 12 and 13. Work experience and gaining knowledge of the world of work is an important point of career development and parents can provide opportunities and contacts to promote this.
Careers counselling is available to all students and parents are always welcome to come in with their daughters or to contact the Careers Counsellor to discuss any concerns.
