In addition to the less formal support girls receive from school staff, the following formal support network is in place to support students in all aspects of their emotional and social development.

• Deans - Each student has a Year level Dean, who is generally their Dean from Year 9 to 13. In addition to the Year level Deans, there is a Dean of International Students and an Intermediate School Dean.

• Tutors - Each year, students are placed in a tutor group with a teacher with whom they meet each morning. Deans and tutors provide an environment of security and friendship and an attitude of mutual respect is developed.

• Guidance Counsellor - Our Guidance Counsellor offers a professional and confidential counselling service to girls and their parents. Adolescence can be a time of great changes and challenges for young women. Rangi Ruru offers a professionally trained counsellor to help ensure the wellbeing of all students in the school.
  
  Listening carefully and sensitively helping sort out how things could be different, and providing support in any changes are part of her role. She liaises with people within the school to ensure best outcomes for students, for suggesting appropriate outside support and agencies when necessary, and for providing programmes, strategies and support for parents.
  
  Our counsellor is bound by the New Zealand Association of Counsellors code of ethics and is required to respect confidentiality.

• Chaplain - the school Chaplain is available to support and advise girls.The church is available to girls in times when they seek a time of refection and prayer.

Members of the Student Support Network will listen to thoughts and feelings without being critical; help people look at different ideas, choices and options and their possible outcomes; provide information; provide support and skills to people who are making decisions; encourage people to accept responsibility for themselves; provide a confidential service.

Student support from their Peers

• Clans - Groupings of students from Years 7 to 13 across the school. Each clan has students from every level and there are wide-ranging student activities coordinated by the Clan Leaders.
• Form Seniors - every tutor group has two form seniors from Year 13 who meet with all classes every week.
• Peer Support - This programme encourages Year 12 student leaders to have an ongoing supportive relationship with small Year 9 groups.
• Boarding House - a buddy system operates for students new to the school, and there is a special orientation programme for new boarders.
