Academic Achievements 2007

Superb 2007 Academic Results
The 2007 NCEA national results have been released and we warmly congratulate all our Rangi girls who achieved their NCEA certificates at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

With a 100% Level 1 success rate, we topped New Zealand at that level. At Levels 2 and 3 the girls’ successes also place us amongst the top few schools in New Zealand. Once again Rangi girls participated fully in school life throughout the year and still managed to surprise and delight us with their academic successes.

The introduction of certificate endorsements has inspired girls to aim for high grades, and 87.5% gained a Level 1 Certificate endorsed with Excellence or Merit. Again, comparison with other schools shows us that the results at Levels 2 and 3 were extremely good. At Level 3, 27.6% of the girls gained certificates with Excellence endorsements, an exceptional result. margie2007

Three girls, Cara Chimirri (Year 12) and Rachel Carpenter and Zoe Buxton (Year 11) deserve particular mention. All were awarded school Elite academic colours for their impressive results. Zoe gained 100% Excellence grades in five subjects, while Cara and Rachel each gained scholarships as well as high totals of Excellence grades.

Scholarship
The results are exciting, and it was a thrill for all of us to know that Rangi Ruru can be rated amongst the top schools in New Zealand once again. A total of 55 Scholarships, including four at Outstanding Performance level, was achieved in 14 subjects by 34 girls. Nearly 45% of those who entered the examinations gained one or more scholarships.

Scholarship Highlights
Included in the group of scholarship winners were Rachel Carpenter, a Year 11 student, in Level 3 Statistics and Modelling and Cara Chimirri who gained an Outstanding Performance scholarship in English, while in Year 12.

Kelsie Wilkinson accomplished the rare feat of gaining three Outstanding Performance scholarships. She has been awarded New Zealand Scholar - Outstanding. Outstanding Scholarships are awarded to the top 40 -60 students in the country and are worth $5000 a year for three years.

Adele Taylor, School Dux and Head Girl in 2007, gained five scholarships, and Lara Mannis gained four, with both Sarah Johnston and Kirsten O’Regan gaining three each.  All of these girls received Scholarship awards of $2000 a year for three years.
