The Enrolment Process for International Students

international22009If you are interested in enrolling your daughter at Rangi Ruru, please read the Enrolment section of our website. We urge you to complete and return your Application for Enrolment form with relevant information and application fee to the school as early as possible. This will place your daughter's name on our waitlist and ensure the school contacts you in the year prior to entry.

We like to interview all applicants whenever possible, and believe it is important for students and parents to visit the school, meet staff and view our facilities. Please advise when you may be visiting Christchurch so that we can arrange a meeting.

Before we can consider your daughter’s application to become a student at Rangi Ruru, we require the following information:

  1. A photocopy of the title page of her passport
  2. A photocopy of her student permit (if issued)
  3. Copies of recent overseas school reports, translated into English. A copy of her latest NZ school report and/or language school report (if applicable)
  4. A recommendation letter from the Principal of her current school (if available)
  5. Any other supporting material you may have, for example: cultural and/or sporting achievements and interests
  6. If the application proceeds to interview, you and your daughter will be required to attend an interview with the Principal
  7. Full names and current addresses of parents for students under the age of 18, and of emergency contact persons/next of kin for students aged 18 years and over (these details must be kept up to date at all times. Please notify the International Dean of any changes).
  8. Details of the student’s current Medical and Travel insurance

Preparation for university study requires a high level of English language competency. International students who do not have English as their first language would usually study intensive English at a language school for at least six months, before attending secondary school for at least 18 months. This is the recommended preparation for successful university study.
