Secondary School (Years 9 to 13)

science-2009The Rangi Ruru Curriculum philosophy is to offer students breadth in Years 7 to 10 before they begin to specialise in the senior years.

In Years 9 and 10, subject choices expose students to a breadth of subject options across the different learning areas. It is intended that this will ensure that students are exposed to a wide range of information and knowledge, whilst helping them to identify areas of specific skill or interest.

By mid Year 10, students are asked to consider their subject choices for Years 11 to 13, and select their subjects for NCEA Level 1 at Year 11.

At Year 11 students are starting to specialise in subject areas and it is essential that students have considered the pathway they are taking and that this provides them with the future options they require.

By Years 12 and 13, subject choices are more specialised. Students are studying in depth those subjects in which they may have a particular interest or ability, which will support their further study or career, or which provides them with flexible pathways.

We are proud of the range of subjects and activities we offer.
