Years 7 & 8 (Intermediate Years)

intermediate2 2007Rangi Ruru has a very popular Intermediate School for Years 7 and 8 students. Class sizes are limited to ensure that each girl receives individual support through these important learning years.

Intermediate School students are part of the Rangi student community and are included in events, activities and committees throughout the year.

As part of the Intermediate School Core Programme, the student’s Tutor teaches Mathematics, English, Outdoor Education, Health and Social Studies. This provides a secure home-room environment where themes of work can be taken enabling the development of essential skills common to several subject areas.

intermediate12007Additionally, Intermediate students also benefit from learning with intermediate and secondary  teaching staff. The Intermediate School has the benefit of having access to specialist teachers and facilities in the secondary school for subjects such as: Art, Music, Christian Living, Physical Education, Design Technology, Science, Food and Textile Technology, Sport, Graphics, Theatre Arts and Languages.

Students have full access to the facilities of the secondary school including the science labs, laptop pods, music suites, art rooms, fitness centre, resources not generally available in intermediate schools.

Intermediate students have close ties with senior students whom they get to know well through peer programmes, clan activities and other school-wide events.

Camps and outdoor activities are key components of the Rangi Intermediate Programme. Specialist Performing Arts staff work with girls in both curriculum and co-curricular music, drama and dance.

The Intermediate School classrooms has wireless internet connection, supporting netbook computers with email access. Integrated computer skills are a part of each girl’s programme.

Valued parts of the Intermediate Programme are the girls' committment to Community Service, the role played by the Intermediate Leaders, Intermediate production, sports competitions (through both Canterbury and Independent schools' competitions) and involvement in equestrian events.

We are proud of the range of subjects and activities we offer.
