The subject choices available to our students have been designed to both challenge and stimulate students with a range of interests and abilities, and to provide them with a wide range of future pathways, whether career or future study, within New Zealand or overseas.

All curriculum areas seek to develop the girls’ problem-solving skills and to equip them for their futures in a global environment.

Our Curriculum Handbook (4.9mb) contains more detail on the options available to different year groups. An education at Rangi Ruru is enriching, challenging, supportive and fun. We offer subject options to interest every girl.

rossgraphics2009The subject options offered at Rangi Ruru in Years 7 to 10 enable girls to develop a good base knowledge, learning skills and identify their interests and skills.

In their senior years, these interests become more targeted and specific to the academic discipline and students identify the more specific and specialist subject areas they wish to pursue.

The school places great emphasis on all girls having good base skills, especially in literacy and numeracy. Rangi Ruru aspires for each student to reach her individual potential. The Rangi environment is one that recognises ability, excellence, endeavour and achievement. Girls are encouraged to develop the skills and confidence to pursue their individual goals, the courage to try new things and the curiosity to explore their individual abilities. An innovative, imaginative and creative culture is central to the school.

Career counselling and life planning is given to all girls to assist them in making appropriate curriculum choices to meet their goals.
