Bequests and Legacies

girls2009A bequest can be much larger than any cash gift you can make to the school in your lifetime and therefore of much greater influence in the difference it can make. It can take the form of a percentage of an estate; a fixed financial amount; assets such as land, buildings, equipment, art or books; or a life insurance policy.

All bequests to the school are placed in the Rangi Ruru Foundation and the income or capital is then directed to the school in accordance with the benefactor's wishes. They can be general or specific.

It is quite easy and inexpensive to alter your will with the addition of a codicil but we recommend you ask your solicitor for advice. We would like to have the opportunity to thank you for your bequest in your lifetime. If you would let Principal, Julie Moor know about it, we will maintain confidentiality and keep you in touch with the school.

Alternatively, in place of a bequest in your will, you may wish to ask the trustees of a family trust or charitable trust to distribute a gift to the Rangi Ruru Foundation now.

Life Insurance may also offer you the opportunity to make a substantial bequest to Rangi Ruru without taking away assets from your own beneficiaries. It is an efficient method of gifting through income rather than capital.

You might like to consider:

  •     Buying a new policy for Rangi Ruru
  •     Replacing a bequest with life insurance
  •     Giving an existing paid-up policy
  •     Giving an existing policy and pay the premium
  •     Buying life insurance on another person
