2009 Rangi Projects which require your support:
The ‘Gibson Connection’ Keynotes
“A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimensions.” Anonymous
Over the past four years, Rangi Ruru has provided many opportunities for students, staff, parents and the wider community to be exposed to interesting, inspiring and learned speakers, including Dr JoAnn Deak, and well renowned educationalist, Art Costa.
Through the Gibson Connection, we will continue to grow these opportunities, encouraging our community to think, reflect and learn; to never stop their learning. Through the Gibson Connection, members of our school community will be exposed to some of today’s exceptional thinkers and doers.
Hilary Orr Sports Trust
“The habits we form from childhood make no small difference, but rather they make all the difference”. Aristotle
Encouraging physical activity and mastery, the confidence to try new sports, to participate, to show great endeavour, passion and sportsmanship is at the core of Rangi Ruru’s sports philosophy.
Our current need is to build investment funds in The Hilary Orr Sports Trust continuing Hilary’s legacy of encouraging participation, endeavour and excellence in sport at Rangi Ruru.
Scholarship Fund
“Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone…” John F. Kennedy
Education is one of the most important gifts we give our community. Through the Scholarship Fund we are able to provide a greater diversity of interests, skills and talents to our student community. The girls who gain scholarships to Rangi Ruru may not have had this opportunity otherwise, and are identified for not only what they will gain from Rangi Ruru, but for the talents, breadth and richness they bring to our school community.
AIR (Artist in Residence Programme)
“The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work.” Michael Jackson
The Residency programme at Rangi Ruru was a New Zealand first. Now in its tenth year the programme is very well established. Hundreds of girls have benefited from mentoring from some of New Zealand’s leading and up and coming artists, writers, musicians and a philosopher. We need to further build this fund to safeguard this invaluable programme.
General at the Principal’s Discretion
“Moral education, as I understand it, is not about inculcating obedience to law or cultivating self-virtue, it is rather about finding within us an ever-increasing sense of the worth of creation. It is about how we can develop and deepen our intuitive sense of beauty and creativity.” Andrew Linzey
You may wish to contribute toward future developments and opportunities for girls, at the discretion of the Principal. Our understanding of what makes a great education is constantly developing in response to research and developments both within New Zealand and overseas.
Your contribution to the General Fund enables us to move quickly to implement those opportunities and experiences which will positively impact on girls’ futures.
