Publications

Rangi Ruru produces a number of publications throughout the year.

Rangi News - Published four times a year, Rangi News includes commentary from school staff and a summary of the term's activities, achievements and happenings. This magazine is distributed to around 7,500 members of the Rangi wider school community, including former students, current and former parents and staff, and other interested parties.

Other Publications - The school publishes a range of Brochures and Handbooks. Some are only available to the school family (for example: Family, Student, Staff and Boarders' Handbooks), others are available for you to view here on our internet site. These include:

  • Enrolment Brochure- a summary of information about Rangi Ruru and the enrolment process.
  • Curriculum Handbook - outlining the Rangi Ruru curriculum and subject pathways.
  • Information for International Students and their Families - information about being an International Student at Rangi Ruru and the New Zealand Code of Practice for international students.
  • Brochures for International Students (English, Korean, Thai and Japanese)

Key Competencies Materials

We have had a number of enquiries regarding the purchase of Rangi Ruru Key Competencies materials.

Rangi Ruru staff have received a number of requests for copies of the school’s Key Competencies materials. These materials have helped staff to integrate the Key competencies into their classrooms programmes and helped the students level of knowledge and understanding of the competencies and when they are using these. A key focus for the school in developing the Key Competencies series was to have a distinctive style which would cut through the "classroom noise' and could be used in many forums across a range of media. The highlighter Key Competencies series is unique and copyright to Rangi Ruru. Many apologies for the delays.

Here at last, we have them available for order. Please complete and return the attached order form and we will dispatch these to you as soon as possible. (Note. The Rangi Ruru watermark is not on the final posters)

If you are interested in purchasing some of these tools, please complete and return order form below. If you wish to have variations of these materials created for your school, please email your request to Carolyn ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). A small production cost will be incurred.

We trust these will help you to raise awareness of the Key Competencies in your school.

Curriculum Handbook 2011

Curriculum Hdbk2011The aim of the Rangi Ruru Curriculum Handbook is to indicate to parents and students the subjects and options that are available at Rangi Ruru for the following year(s).

The Handbook deals with subjects and options in Years 7 to 13.

Students, particularly in Years 11 to 13, need to consider the subjects and pathways they may need for their future studies or career choices.

The distribution of the Handbook is followed by a Course Selection evening, and students are supported in their decision making by the Careers' Counsellor, Curriculum Manager, Subject Teachers, Co-ordinators of Faculty, Deans and their form tutors.

Every effort is made to provide a course of study that meets the needs of each student, and consultation and advice on courses is given. Within each student’s course of study will be some subjects such as Christian Living and Physical Education, which are compulsory at this year level.
